Boohoo Boutique!  Just writing that makes me want to say it in a certain way, you know the way it always comes on at the end of the advert.  They seem to be all over the TV at the moment and taking a look at the new Boohoo Boutique collection I can understand why.

If you’re not a regular shopper on the website then why??  Boohoo offer gorgeous trend led pieces at really great affordable prices, basically making it justifiable to purchase more..well that’s my excuse to the other half.

Along with ASOS they are one of the leading UK on-line retailers meaning you can’t hit the high street to pick up a last minute splurge, but one visit to their website and you’ll be hooked.

If you are a regular shopper then you may be also be aware of the Boohoo Boutique collection, sorry I know you’re probably trying to keep it a secret but I’m spreading the word.  Boohoo Boutique sees its third collection launch for High Summer and whether you’re thinking about what to pack in your suitcase for Ibiza this summer, or what will be filling your backpack when you hit the festival scenethe two collections Boohoo Boutique are offering will cover all bases.

If you’re into print and colour make a style statement in this incredible maxi dress.  The print offers a distinct nod to the Orient (another of summers’ big trends) but is cool enough to chuck over a bikini for daytime wear.  Stick your wedges, and a lipstick, in your beach bag to help take you you from beach to bar  faster than you can say mojito!

I’m a huge fan of the sportswear trend that’s been floating around since last season, Boohoo Boutique gives a street twist to this trend with a gorgeous floral print, silky bomber with matching wide leg joggers. I’m loving the monochrome palette but if you want to add a splash of colour it has to be neon.

Looking for something more casual, there is gorgeous denim galore featuring bleeched washes and Aztec print patchwork.  Dungarees have been key this summer so stand out in the festival crowds in this floral print number.  Toughen it up worn with a sporty crop top and wedge trainers, or keep it super girly and team with an over-sized  floral head band.

The collection launches today and as I mentioned before, it’s limited edition, so don’t expect these pieces to hang around.  Prices range from £20-£45, for more info head to

Put a Ring On It.

For some time now we’ve been going crazy for statement collars, and why not, they instantly glam up any outfit and are a quick and easy fashion fix if you aren’t looking to splash the cash on a whole new look.

Trust me nobody loves a little bit of neck-candy as much as i do, but after a little mid-week online shopping treat (Eeekk) with the fabulous Atterley Road (check them out if you’ve not yet, my new jewellery box favourite is this incredible statement ring from Day Birger Et Mikkelsen….an absolute bargain at £35 too!

Nothing quite perks up a pinky finger like having a bit of beautiful bling and my motto is the more the merrier, so stack them high and pack a real punch with a fistful of beautiful rings.  Here’s a few of my current favs.

Shopping with a Conscious

Do you love shopping but wish you could still feel like you’re doing your bit for the environment whilst making your purchases?  Well, as of today H&M are launching their beautiful Conscious Exclusive collection in selected stores around the world.

I’m not going to lie, the first thing that caught my eye with this collection was the incredible shots of the outfits.  It’s pretty much all shot in the corner of what looks like a distressed room with only a couple of props.  Against a minimalist background this party-wear collection really pops, offering Hollywood style glamour that has been made from organic cotton, recycled polyester and polyamide…among other things!

It’s a tight offering of about 18 pieces, plus a smattering of accessories.  Key items such as the tulle dress at £149.99 have already sold out, proving this is a collection that won’t hang around.

Prices are very reasonable ranging from £29.99 for a waistcoat to £199.99 for an intricately embroidered dress.  Available in selected stores and online this capsule collection offers perfect style solutions for all those summer occasions that will be cropping up in your calendar soon.

Green with Envy.

If there is one colour that people always talk about being notoriously hard to wear it has to be green.  Like any colour you just have to be conscious of the shade you are wearing and making sure that it’s flattering to your skin tone.  If you were told that only purple suited your skin tone but that season the fashion industry decided that yellow was the must-have colour you’d be in trouble, the stores would be full to the brim of loveliness in a colour that you had been told is not right for you making any clothes shopping experience near on impossible!

As with most summer seasons, colour has made a huge impact.  From vivid, citrus or pastel there is a way to wear colour and a tone for everyone this season, with no need to limit your wardrobe to just one strain of the rainbow but today I’m talking about one of the prettiest shades of summer….Aqua.

It’s a colour that stirs up thoughts of exotic destinations, where the sea swirls from cobalt to azure and aqua….You know the kind of place where the sand is white and powdery and you have an endless supply of pina coladas!  Well the shops are awash (ha ha) with aqua this summer including shoes, accessories and you can even find a nail polish to match courtesy of OPI.

It’s a variation on green that suits everyone from blonde to brunette.  The catwalks showed the colour worn top to toe, it makes a real style statement wearing one bold colour and I’m sure if you wear aqua to a wedding this year you’re not likely to be mistaken for one of the bridesmaids, unless the wedding happens to be on a beach in the Caribbean!

Zac Posen                                                    DVF                                                         Issa

If head to toe is too daring mix it up with a print, take inspiration from Gucci who mixed aqua and snake print or Matthew Williamson by teaming a simple aqua blouse with neon printed trousers.

Gucci                                                                               Matthew Williamson

As mentioned above, accessories and shoes are an easy way of injecting some colour into an outfit you may already have lurking at the back of your wardrobe, and if you’re not confident enough to go head-to-toe it’s a subtle way to wear the shade.  Below are some goodies to help you achieve your aqua look.

Sweating it Out.

I don’t know about you but this ultra-cold blast has made me want to dig out all my jumpers and chunky layers again…Well to be honest I hadn’t even put my Onesie away yet, it’s just too cosy.  But if you’re feeling like me but don’t want to go back to the old jumpers you’ve had over the last winter season there is a  must-have wardrobe addition that is perfect for keeping out that winter weather right now…..It’s the sweat shirt.

That’s right, what was once strictly kept to the confines of the gym or a quick run round your local park is now super cool and acceptable for every day wear.  Not only did we see them on the catwalk last season but plenty of celebs have been rocking a sweat (shirt) and tweeting us pics.  Probably the most well-known would be RiRi rocking her Brian Lichtenberg Homies number.  This bad boy has made it onto a number of celebs back including Miley and Alexandra Burke.  Brain Lichtenberg is an LA based designer specialising in cool, contemporary womenswear, although these jumpers are unisex, girls you should definitely check him out.

Alongside these Homie and Feline jumpers another designer fav is the Kenzo tiger sweat.  This is as big and bold as they come, no wonder it’s been the number one wardrobe pick for fashion bloggers.  At £170 it’s not cheap for such a statement piece but you can now find similar in Topshop for £38!!

So if you’re looking to treat yourself to something new this weekend you’d be crazy not to add one of these to your jumper draw, it’ll easily get you through this cold spurt and look super cool teamed over a little summer dress when we finally get some warmer weather!  Wear now with jeans and wedge trainers or take heed from the fashion pack and style with a pencil skirt and pointy toe courts.

Embellished, Embroidered or Both?

Today I’ve been working with my longest standing client and good friend who no matter how big her wardrobe always seems to be on the hunt for another lovely buy….Great fun for me.

Today’s request was for a clutch bag and an ethnic inspired cover-up, the latter being what has inspired me for today’s blog.

Now that the extremely cold weather that we have been experiencing seems to be on its way and the evenings are starting to get lighter, I even left the office this week and didn’t experience pitch darkness, you may be considering relegating your parka to the back of the cupboard in favour of something a bit more, well Spring.  Obviously the temperatures are not soaring yet, so you still need a piece of outerwear that is going to keep the chill out, but it’s also worth investing in something that will see you through to the summer trends, and there is such a gorgeous selection of these style of jackets on the high street right now, whether you’re looking for embrodiered, embellished or a mix of both you’re spoilt for choice.

If you’re looking to the catwalks for inspiration you can’t go wrong looking at the Isabel Marant collection.  This laid-back Parisian style is what many-a-fashionista lusts after when Fashion Weeks roll around; I personally can’t wait for her AW13 show later today.  Her collections always have just the right mix of cool that is completely wearable.

          Isabel Marant SS13 catwalk

I see really this type of jacket being a versatile piece in your wardrobe this season.  Look for more structured styles of jacket to give you a smarter look and team with skinny dark denim.  As the sun starts to shine why not team a bright and embellished jacket over a simple jersey dress with a pair of statement sandals, or a plain tee and crisp white jeans?  It would also be a great addition to your summer holiday suitcase and will look awesome with a pair of safari style a la Marant in the above picture.

So here’s a quick round up of what’s in and around the high street shops right now.

         ASOS £55                                                                 Mango £59.99

      Reiss £250                                                       Zara £69.99

Boyfriend Blues

Denim is soo hot right now and we’re talking the denim blues that we’ve not seen for some time.  There’s a great selection of washes, patchwork detailing and shades – all blue, which is a refreshing change to last summer’s candy pop colours and the burgundy’s and teals of winter just gone, well it’s kind of still here!  So it’s back to basics and there is only one way to wear your jeans right now, that’s by stealing them from your boyfriend’s wardrobe.

Yes, the boyfriend jean has made a huge resurgence and it’s easy to understand why.  Exuding that off-duty model look, and let’s face it who does not want to be channelling Cara Delevingne right now??  The boyfriend jean gives you a relaxed but stylish look, a bit ‘I just threw this on’ but really you planned your outfit the night before…yes we all do it and say otherwise.

Distressed is definitely the way to go right now, although it’s easy to a smarter distressed look by picking darker looking denims and not going to baggy in the fit.   You always need a turn up, even though your ankles may freeze right now – there is no other way to wear.

I love them look teamed with a basic tee in white, grey or a Bretton stripe worn under a jersey blazer or still rocking your winter parka.  Pile on a huge statement necklace and finish with heels, pointy courts, obvs, and an over-sized clutch.

Of course they’re easy to rock in more of a dressed down way, team with a chunky knit and your favourite Converse and away you go.

Why not try the Double Denim?  Not for the faint-hearted.  Or too ramp up the glamour on a night out team with a sequin top and metallic heels…Honestly the outfit options from one pair of jeans is endless so here’s the best from the high street right now.

Happy Feet

Last night I popped in to see the lovely PR team at Russell and Bromley.  I’m not going to lie, as soon as I walked into their showroom I wanted everything that was laid out in front of me.  There is this gorgeous white plinth, a little bit like a catwalk, piled high with summer footwear that would make your mouth water.

Around the edges of the room is more…this time gorgeous handbags from over-sized shoppers with stud detailing to colour pop clutches with heavy gold chains…..Dreamy!

Oh, and not forgetting a little section for the boys that is filled to the brim with colour.

Back to the girls though…seeing all this gorgeous summer footwear got my feet longing to be set free, where I can show off the hottest new nail colour Du jour (I’m a bit partial to a nail varnish or two) and my toes can wiggle freely.  So I thought what better way to lift our spirits mid-week than by looking at what flat sandals will be adorning our feet, just as soon as this cold blast, blasts off.

Of course there has to be some bits from R&B…these gladiator style sandals are the absolute top of my list.  These will go with everything this summer from flirty dresses to cut off denim shorts I need these in my life, an investment piece for sure.

And as we’re all aware monochrome is a huge trend right now, so i’ll take these – in both colours thank you!

You can’t go wrong with some over-sized jewels.  These sparklers are from Aldo at £45.

A hint of animal never goes out of fashion, i love these from River Island at £45, they look soo comfortable too.

Aquas and mints are one of the summer seasons hottest colours, so why not dip your feet into these beauties from Aldo £50.

Everyone needs a pair of these Topshop sandals in their wardrobe.  Pure, simple and an absolute bargain at £18!

Make a real style statement in these Pierre Hardy eye-catchers and Sssshh, there is no need for anyone to know the price, a snip at £165 (originally £550) from The Outnet.

Tribal always makes an appearance in some form of summer styling, tassles will be popping up everywhere this summer.  These sandals are fun, funky and will give you a little bit of height…I know it’s supposed to be flats but the heel is soo small they practically are.  Office £50 and New Look @ ASOS £17.99

For your inner Greek-Goddess, and just because these are stunning! My-Wardrobe £140 and Tory Birch @ The Outnet £100.

Hey Beach Babe!

The temperature seems to have dropped again but many of you are booking or have booked summer hols….Not jealous much!

Nothing helps get you through the bleak first couple of months of the year better than daydreaming of lying on a sun drenched beach, cool turquoise waves lapping at the shore, smothered in Hawaiian Tropic and sangria or cocktail in hand.  But there is one thing that strikes fear into most women whilst having this day dream and that’s what bikini, swimsuit or tankini am I going to wear.

Not only do you worry about what your body looks like in the tiny pieces of stretchy material, but there is also the worry of is it the right choice for the right location, size of tan lines and is it something that somebody else will be wearing?

There are a couple of basic guidelines that people can follow when it comes to choosing the right swimwear to flatter your body shape, but the best bit of advice I can give is get out there early and start buying this suitcase staple as soon as they hit the stores.  You won’t regret being organised and end up panic buying at the airport Accessorize, sharing the same swimsuit as everyone else round your hotel pool.

I hope the below helps along with some pics of my favs currently on the high street.  I’ll follow up soon with beachwear…A whole other story!

Small Bust – Be careful with bandeau styles, they can flatten your chest further so look for tops that have pleating, ruffles or beaded detail to give you some extra volume up top.  It might also help to try under-wired and padded styles to give a little Oomph.

Big Bust – One word ladies…SUPPORT!  Don’t try those itsy bitsy teeny weeny (yellow polka) triangle bikinis or a one piece that has a high neckline, you’re likely to end up with a mono-boob.  Halter style tops will be your best friend here and will show your assets of top they’re best.  Darker colours will help minimise if you are conscious of your size up top.

Pear shape – If you want to slim down your hip area go for bottoms with less material.  A short or big bikini bottom will actually make you look larger.  Tankinis are great for pear shapes just look for colour, pattern or detail on top to draw the eye up.  If going for a one-piece chose block colours and a high cut leg will follow the curves of your lower half.

Athletic/Boyish – Lucky you! You can wear pretty much what you like.  Make the most of toned arms and shoulders with asymmetric straps and racer back style.  If you’re opting for a one piece why not try a monokini to show off your abs and the attention drawn to your mid-section will give the illusion of curves.

Thick waist – Swimsuits with wrap and pleat detailing across the waist will flatter this part of your body.  Look for swim suits that have a good Lycra content as they will help to streamline your figure and give great support.

Colour Me Bad!

I know I haven’t stopped banging on about monochrome recently, I absolutely adore it and have been rocking a lot of black and white stripes myself but, as soon as the summer sun arrives I know we’ll all be gasping for colour!  Good job that bold and beautiful, head to toe colour is a huge trend this summer.

Last year we were all working the colour block trend, this year it’s all about picking your favourite shade and maximising it top to toe.

Gucci’s SS13 catwalk show is one of the best and most beautiful examples of head to toe colour.  The outfits are simple in bright, bold eye catching colours that make you think of being somewhere exotic and faraway…I can see myself there now!  Mulberry, Trussardi and Versus also treated our eyes to a colourful fiesta of outfits made up totally of one shade.  It’s not normally how you would think of dressing but just one look at the catwalk shots below and I know you’ll be straight to your wardrobe seeing how you can pull this look together.

This is a bold trend, so wear with confidence.  Pick a colour that suits your skin tone, remember it’s going to be the make-up of your whole outfit – clothes, shoes, bag, hat etc, so it’s important that you choose a colour that looks good on you, not just because it’s your favourite pan-tone.

Keep the looks clean and all about your chosen colour, don’t pile on too many jewels.  Make sure your bag and shoes match and you’re ready to go.

Have the wedding invites and save-the-date already started to land on your door mat?  And are you starting to panic about what dress is right for the type of wedding your friends are having?  There is always that constant worry that you’ll turn up in the same dress as someone else, don’t worry having made this fashion faux pas myself it wasn’t actually that bad.  We ended up posing for pictures together all night and became the unofficial bridesmaids!

Anyway, one of the best possible tactics to avoid my embarrassment is to start looking for a dress as early as possible, and if you’re keen to make sure you’re still in something that’s on trend look no further than the LLD, Little Lace Dress.

Lace was big on the SS13 catwalks, Mulberry, Erdem and Valentino were just a handful of designers who showcased lavish lace looks, and it’s a trend that has been picked up by most of the high street. With a wide range of beautiful colours available you don’t have to worry about looking like you’re part of the wedding party but here are a couple of top tips on colours to wear as a wedding guest..…Firstly the only person who should be wearing white, ivory or any variant of the shade is the bride, unless you get the go ahead or there is a request for people to wear white steer well clear.

Secondly it’s always useful to find out what colours the bridesmaids are wearing.  It’s not a problem if they are wearing purple and your dress is lilac but it’s always worth bearing in mind when making that all important purchase.  You don’t want people thinking you’re part of the bridal party, especially if it’s only the second time you’ve actually met the bride!

So, in your quest for a gorgeous dress here’s a couple of my favs from the high street and available to purchase right now.  We’d love to see any pics of you in yours later this year.  Tweet us @notjustadress

Monochrome Madness

I know it feels like Christmas all over again with this barrage of snow and ice, trust me you’re not experiencing a Groundhog day. And with this cold weather the last thing you’re likely to be thinking about wearing will be anything that remotely resembles any of the spring/summer trends, but there is one fabulous eye catching look out there that is definite buy now wear now product and is one of springs biggest trends…It’s Monochorome.

If you read my SS13 round up you will already know how big stripes are this season and how they have taken a monochromatic vibe a la Dolce & Gabanna. Well thanks to other top designers such as Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and Alexander Wang, just to mention a few, monochrome is huge and all over the high street right now.

This is such a great trend for all body shapes and sizes.  Black is obviously a fashion favourite, sophisticated and sliming, but when teamed with white gives a fresh and graphic new look that is also high fashion.

If checks and stripes are a bit bold for you why not opt for a sporty style trouser in black with contrast white stripes running down the side?  Super comfortable and not only ticking the monochrome trend but covering off another hit this season, sports luxe.  It’s easy to team individual black and white pieces to achieve the look, a black blazer with a pair of white jeans, simple black tee and pointy pumps; you probably have a lot of these items already hanging in your wardrobe so no need to even hit the shops!  Keep everything sleek and simple, don’t over work the look with loads of accessories and keep the colour palette pure.

If you are working stripes you’ll have the option of horizontal and vertical this season.  Remember that vertical will elongate you making you look taller and slimmer, horizontal can be harder to wear but if the darker shade falls in the right place it can enhance your curves in all the right places. Warehouse have these incredible stripe trousers for £48, these will make your legs look like they go on and on.  Team with a white shirt or plain black tee and away you go.

If that seems just a little too much try working black head to toe and adding stripes accessories.  A bold oversized bag will instantly give you the look, and it’s a well-known fact that carry an oversized bag gives the illusion that you look smaller, just look at all the celebs that lug huge bags round with them.

So with payday looming here is a selection of gorgeous pieces that will get your bank cards itching for use again after you safely stashed them away following Christmas.

SS13 Round Up

So the sales are still in full swing and everyone has gone bargain mad understandably, but you may have also noticed something tucked away from the madness of the sale rails, a beautiful, pristine and full-priced section…the new seasons trends! That’s right we’re talking the first hit of Spring/Summer trends.  Obviously we’re all still feeling the chill, not to mention the after affects a Christmas full of eating and drinking brings, but if you’re anything like me you’ll be raring to get into something new, and there is a lot that is wearable right now.

Stripes are big and bold this season.  It’s a monochromatic colour scheme which means that you won’t feel silly wearing it but the trend is sooo big if you invest in pieces now you’ll easily still be wearing them in the warmer months.  They were all over the catwalks, Dolce & Gabanna, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane von Furstenberg just to mention a few and the high street has already started to recreate some fantastic pieces and wallet busting prices – who needs the sales!  River Island, H&M and of course Topshop all have gorgeous buy now wear now pieces, also worn in the right way we all know how flattering and elongating stripes can be.

  Tommy Hilfiger    Dolce & Gabanna

Florals are still key.  We’ve had an autumn full of dark and sexy, Gothic inspired florals, the summer sees a gorgeous injection of brighter, lighter floral prints in every bloom imaginable. From 60’s inspired to oriental, bold, 3D and delicate laser cut detail there is literally a bloom for everyone regardless of size, shape or age.  Bear in mind that larger prints are much more flattering for the more curvaceous of us and small ditsy styles look great on petites.  Marks & Spencer, French Connection and Ted Baker have some incredible floral print dresses that will work now whilst we’re still in tights but will look just as fresh and fabulous with bare legs and a hat at all those summer weddings.

  Issa     Temperley London

High shine metallics can be tough to pull off without looking you’re wrapped in foil but this season there are soo many ways to dress it up or down.  Burberry were one of the biggest influences on this trend by updated their iconic trench for summer with the use of bright Quality Street inspired colours. For those of us without the Burberry budget you can get a metallic day time look with just a touch of shimmer giving a nod to the trend with stylish jersey tops teamed with jeans, but ramp up the glamour in the evening with a cool metallic leather skirt or all over sequin dress.  Whistles is a great place to look out for all over sequin dresses and beautiful pieces of knitwear, they may be pricey but cost per wear will be worth it.

Sports Luxe has been hanging around for some time now, I’m glad I still have a few key pieces hanging in my wardrobe from last summer as it’s a favourite look of mine.  It’s easy to wear and minimal in look, with slouchy trousers tops with mesh detailing and zips…Look to DKNY for inspiration.  Grey and white are key colours which you can pop with one of summers other top trends, Pastels!

Again, pastels were key last summer and have made a reappearance for this season.  The sorbet shades of pink, peach, mint and lemon are just perfect for gorgeous girly wardrobes and all the summer engagements that have started to fill your diary.  Mulberry combined these colours with some beautiful floral detailing, as did Erdem who also teamed the colours with some cool snakeskin prints.

  Erdem        Mulberry

I’ve Got a Clutch on You!

So, you’ve bought yourself that amazing dress you’ve been lusting after, and even splashed out on a pair of gorgeous new shoes that will not only go with your new Christmas dress  but will of course go with everything else in your wardrobe; well that’s what you’ve told him.

There is just one final element that will make your outfit complete and that’s a beautiful clutch bag!

For me a clutch is almost the beginning of my outfit planning, quite often I know what bag I want to use before I even know what I’m going to wear!  Choosing a bag wisely is important, especially when it comes to Christmas outfits. If you’ve gone for sequin overload with your dress  finish your look with something simple that won’t take away from the gorgousness you’re wearing.  Likewise if you’ve gone for something simple with your clothing why not go all out with your clutch, there are soo many cool designs and styles out there, at such great prices there is no reason to limit your choice to just one!

Also bear in mind the size of your bag.  At the moment trends are either for huge, oversized clutches or tiny, delicate little bags that are more like purses.  A small bag can be ruined or broken if you over fill it, and let’s face it, our handbags are testament to how much ‘stuff’ us women lug around for that ‘just in case’ moment. And if your bag is just too big to carry around whilst you’re throwing some shapes on the dance floor something with a strap may be a better choice, nobody wants to put their bag down after a few too many glasses of bubbly then head home without it.

So to help you all out of a clutch crisis I’ve pulled together a selection of beautiful bags, for any occasion.  Why not add one to your list for Santa.
